About Us
The summer of '03 Emily and Seth took a road trip around their home state, Wisconsin, and the idea for this site first popped into Seth's head. After watching Emily painfully plan where we were going to camp, and most of the time walking blindly into campsites, Seth thought "we can fix this". And that is just what we hope to have done. No longer will it be a guessing game when planning trips! With user comments and ratings, you will be able to see where the good sites are, and where the ones are that you are better off staying away from. We hope that you share our love of the outdoors and our passion for efficient outdoor planning!
Seth grew up in a family who loved to camp. From as far back as he can remember, his family was taking summer camping trips all over the U.S. By the time Seth met Emily, and was nearly done with high school, he had already camped in most of the 48 continental states. His dad, being a botany buff, would make sure that he and his brothers had seen all of the great foliage there was to see before moving on to the next site. Seth earned the rank of Eagle Scout in May of 2000, partly because of all of his great camping experience. He is an invaluable resource to have with when you are doing anything outdoors. He can tell you stories about most of the landmarks he went to as a child, but still loves getting outdoors when he can. Seth recently graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. He is responsible for slaving over every minute detail of the site to make sure that it runs well.
Emily had never camped until Seth came into her life. She did, however, grow up in a family who loved to take road trips, but would stay in hotels. Her dad, being the geography buff that he is, would make sure the family had hit all of the "interesting" sites before they traveled on. Being a short person, Emily used to hate all of the hiking trails her parents would take her on, as her short legs never seemed to move fast enough, and hiking seemed pointless at the time. She now loves hiking trails and is so determined that she has made Seth join her in lapping many entire state parks via hiking trails. Seth included Emily on one of his family's summer camping trips, and she hasn't looked back. Emily bought Seth their first tent for his following birthday, and they camp whenever they can. Emily recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Spanish, Zoology, and Psychology. Emily is now working on her M.S. in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is responsible for "de-bugging" the site, and much of the text that you see, as well as all things business related.
Emily and Seth's love of the outdoors provided the perfect setting for Seth to propose to Emily in the spring of 2005. Seth seized the comfort of a warm campfire to "pop the question" to which Emily still can't picture a more perfect setting.
Much sleep and schoolwork has been missed by both Seth and Emily in an effort to make this site the best possible. We hope that you continue to make the site even better by providing us with feedback and joining the site. The more people contribute, the more useful the site will be for everyone.
